National hero of Nagorno-Karabakh Arkadi Ter-Tadevosyan (Commandos) passes away

Hero of Artsakh, Major-General Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan (Commandos) passed away on March 31 at the age of 81.

Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan was born on May 22, 1939 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

He attended Baku Combined Arms Command School and later the Leningrad Military Academy of Rear Services and Transportation.

Ter-Tadevosyan continued his military service in the Soviet Army in Afghanistan, Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Belarus.

In 1988, he joined the Artsakh liberation fight and actively participated in the military trainings of volunteers. In 1990, he became a member of the ‘Sasuntsi Davit’ (‘David of Sassoun’) volunteer detachment. In 1991, Ter-Tadevosyan was appointed Head of Training Corps Defense Committee. On October 30, 1991, the newly formed Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Self-Defense Forces liberated the village of Togh in the Hadrut region due to a military operation carried out under Ter-Tadosyan. In May 1992, he took an active part in the preparations for the military operation to liberate the city of Shushi.
